Frequently Asked Questions

Everything authors ask us before, during, and after publishing with Liberty Hall.

Getting Started

Before You Sign Up

What genres do you accept?

Fiction and non-fiction across nearly every genre — fantasy, thriller, romance, memoir, historical, military, literary fiction, and more. If you're unsure whether your manuscript fits, send us a synopsis and we'll let you know.

Do you work with first-time authors?

Yes — a large share of our catalog is debut authors. Our editorial team scales support based on where your manuscript already stands, whether that's a rough first draft or a polished near-final version.

Do I need a finished manuscript to start?

Not necessarily. We can begin with a completed draft for editing, or work with you earlier in the process if you need developmental guidance on structure and plot before drafting is complete.

How do I get a quote?

Fill out the form on our Contact page with your manuscript details and genre. Our editorial team responds with a scoped quote within 24 hours.

Process & Timeline

How It Works

How long does the publishing process take?

Most titles move from manuscript intake to release in 8–14 weeks, depending on manuscript length and the scope of editorial work required. Complex developmental edits can extend this timeline.

Can I see my cover before it's finalized?

Yes. Every cover goes through a design review with the author before it's locked. You'll typically see 2–3 concept directions before we refine the final version.

What if I want changes after editing is complete?

A round of author review and revision is built into every editorial package. Additional rounds beyond what's scoped can be added at an hourly rate, discussed upfront.

Which retailers will my book be available on?

Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and a wide network of independent retailers through our distribution partners, in both eBook and print formats.

Rights & Payments

Ownership & Billing

Do I keep the rights to my book?

Yes. Authors retain full rights to their work at all times. We operate as your publishing services partner, not a rights-acquiring publisher — see our Terms of Service for full detail.

How does royalty tracking work?

You receive access to a reporting dashboard showing sales and royalties across retail channels, updated on a regular cycle so you always know where things stand.

What is your refund policy?

Refund eligibility depends on the stage of work completed. See our full Refund Policy for exact terms by service type.

Is my manuscript kept confidential?

Yes — every project is covered by confidentiality as outlined in our Privacy Policy. Your manuscript and personal information are never shared without consent.
